One of my favorite movies right now has to be “Dan In Real Life” it is a fun family comedy about a man who is trying to reconnect with his family, including his 3 daughters after his wife passes away. Throughout the entire movie, Dan (played amazingly by Steve Carrell) experiences many bumps along the way that continue to shape him and his family. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.
Besides the movie itself, there is an awesome soundtrack that comes with the movie! Sondre Lerche provides all the music for the movie, from all the instrumental stuff to the lyrical music that you experience. He does a beautiful job throughout the entire film. My favorite song that he shares is called “To Be Surprised.” This song talks about the different things that will probably happen in life in addition to the fact that life is nothing short of surprising and there is no other way to prepare for life rather than just to be ready for surprises.
“You got to be prepared to be surprised
That’s all I know
The weight of the world
And the hurt and the dirt
Can make you disturbed
When I wrap my arms around you
Every mistake we make crumbles
When I wrap my arms around you
Everything echoes a new song.”
So life will never be what we expected it to be. Neither is our faith journey. So just be prepared to be surprise by God in good ways. They say, when God closes a door God opens a window!!
Good luck on your journey,
Sammie
"Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of these things and still be calm in your heart." --Unknown
